What is your spa type?

I came across a website last night and I found this very interesting article written by Jacquetta Szathmari. She's the Editor in Chief of InnerRewards. According to her, knowing your spa type will help you choose spas that are a good fit.

She listed 7 categories of spa types: Eco-chic, Zen, Luxe Glam, Medi Spa, Victorian Elegance, Total Immersion and Minimalist. After reading through the article, I concluded that my spa type is Zen + Eco-chic!

My 3 little plants

I just got back from Ikea. Even after so many visits, a trip there has always been exciting for me. There are so many things I that I would like to buy and bring home. Thus, I always end up buying items that are not on my shopping list.

These are the 3 cute plants that I bought.

This pot contains 2 plants. They reminded me of a pair of 'twins'. Once they are slightly bigger, I shall plant them in 2 separate pots.

This plant looks pretty unique and has thick and spongy leaves.

The last one was a rare find. It was the only one left and was hidden in the corner. I was thrilled when I spotted it! It actually has a flower bud!

I have yet to see a cactus that flower when it is so young. Maybe today is my lucky day. I cannot wait to see the flower bloom. :)

I do not think I have green fingers because the two plants that I had previously did not survive. Hopefully, these 3 are going to be tough little survivors.

Home-made bread pudding

I got bread pudding craving today. So, I am going to make my favourite bread pudding with a bit of a twist. There will be a new secret ingredient. I hope it will make this bread pudding even tastier and more irresistible! It is dark and sweet, it melts in your mouth. Have a guess first and I shall reveal this ingredient at the end of this post.

Ingredients:
  • 2 eggs
  • 150ml milk
  • 200ml coconut milk
  • 80g white sugar
  • 12 slices of bread
  • 50g golden sultanas
  • 50g chocolate chips
  • a few drops of vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • some icing sugar
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 180 degree Celsius (350 degree Fahrenheit).
2. Trim off the bread skin (discard or save for other use).
3. Cut bread into half.

4. Lightly brush the base and sides of a heatproof dish (22 x 19 x 5 cm) with softened butter.
5. Line the dish with bread.

6. Sprinkle some raisins and chocolate chips.

7. Repeat step 5 and 6 until you have used up all the bread.

8. Beat the eggs and sugar together in a big bowl.

9. Pour in the coconut and plain milk. Add a few drops of vanilla extract. Mix them well.

10. Pour the mixture slowly over the bread and let it stand for 30 minutes.

11. Once the bread has soaked up all the mixture, bake it in the preheated oven for about 20 - 30 minutes or until golden brown.

12. Sprinkle some icing sugar on the top, cut and serve.

My new delicious Chocolate raisin bread pudding. Chocolate is the new secret ingredient, did you guess correctly? :) What I love about this recipe is that the ingredients are cheap and easily available. If you have time and want to try something new, give it a go. Do let me know how it turns out for you, love to hear about it!

Relaxing foot spa at home?

I had been wanting to buy a Watson Bubble Footspa Massager since the first time I saw it. Finally I bought it after such a long time. This is a picture of how it looks like with its packaging.

The Product:
Measurement:
Length - 15 inches (about 38cm)
Width - 13.5 inches (about 34cm)
Maximum water depth - 1.5 inches (about 4.5cm)

It comes with an easy-to-follow instruction manual with detailed warnings. It is also guaranteed for one year against faulty workmanship. The staff told me I can bring it back to any Watson outlet if there is any problem.

It is very easy to use. All you need to do is turn the knob to select the function you want. It cannot warm or heat up cold water. However, it has a "retain warmth" function. You just need to fill it with warm water first.

There are 4 bubble belts that produces turbo bubbles. Sitting in the middle is a ball roller that you can massage your feet with.

At the front, there is a splash cover. This footspa also has 4 rubber feet for its anti-slip design.

My Review:
After going through the instructions, I was finally ready to try it! I filled it with warm water until the maximum water level indicated. Then I plugged it in.

First, I tried the massage only function. Initially I felt a bit ticklish. After awhile, the vibration was just nice, not too strong for me. The whole experience was not too bad.

Next, it was the retain warmth + bubble trial. The moment I switched function, it became quite noisy. I guessed it was due to the air drawing to produce the bubbling effect. Once I got over the noise, I realised that the retain warmth + bubble was in fact a more relaxing experience. My feet felt as if they were 'floating' and weightless. It was a wonderful feeling.

As for the massage + retain warmth + bubble function, I did not feel anything special with this combination. It was just as noisy as retain warmth + bubble. The bubble effect had completely overwhelmed the massage effect.

Lastly, the ball roller in the middle, it is not a bad idea. However, I felt that there was not enough room for me to fully utilise it.

Have a look, my feet enjoying a spa at home! My feet did feel more relaxed in the end.

My conclusion is that for $26.90, it is a relatively decent product. It delivered what it has promised. I wish it is slightly deeper so I can soak my whole feet in it. My favourite is retain warmth + bubble despite of the noise. If only its noise level can be reduced, it will definitely give me a more relaxing experience.
